Day 01

In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Ok, so I've been in bandom about two years and I've only ever spoken to a handful of people. Despite being older than most (I think. I'm in my 30's, so I sure feel older), I'm hella shy with introducing myself to fellow fandom folk, and I'm stupidly intimidated by people who have been in fandoms since the dawn of time.

So doing a challenge such as this one will hopefully pull me out of my shell a little, maybe get me talking, and stop me from being a fandom hermit.

I've talked myself out of doing other challenges before so this feels like a good place to start :)

PS I've never actually used Dreamwith before so I've no idea what I'm doing...

Yay! \o/ I haven't used DW either and basically feel like someone's grandma shouting "WHERE'S THE REPLY BUTTON LOVE?" and dropping my dentures everywhere... I'm too old for this shit ;)

Most people I've met in bandom are past their thirties, I think you're in fine company :)

I have been shouting at my laptop saying, "BUT WHAT DO I DO?" Social media needs to be blatantly obvious or I give up too easily. But I'm getting a hang of the absolute basics. We can learn together.

That makes me feel so much better because I feel like I could be the mother of quite a lot of the bandom peeps on Tumblr (if it was a teenage pregnancy for me, but still)!

I came into fandom very late in life (think late 30s) and only got into bandom in 2011, so I get it. *twirls you*

Woohoo! Really glad to hear that there's more ever so slightly older people in bandom. I didn't even know bandom was a *thing* until about two years ago (other than being a fan of the guys), but I started to get into it, and decided to be brave enough to try writing.
And guess what? It's awesome :D
