I've totally fallen off the wagon. Keep forgetting to even come onto Dreamwidth.

I've had a lot on (insomnia, anxiety over starting a new job, starting new job which is actually completely fine and not scary, sick cub, trying to write), but I will try to catch up when I can. There are some days I really wanna do ^.^

Day 6

In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but my challenge is to read something from your bookmark list. I always have dozens of things bookmarked and the list always gets longer before it gets shorter. I have a feeling I'm not the only one!

Day 7

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so

My fave bandom cannon is Fall Out Boy, and it's honestly just the ridiculousness of Pete and his ability to add fuel to the fire of the Pererick ship.
This, this, this, this, this are just a few examples. While it's pretty much all tongue in cheek, it's fucking hilarious and it's even more enjoyable when he does that shit by accident like this. Pete seems to ship them harder than anyone!

Edit; I'm running low on brain power this week so I'm very behind on checking out everyone else's posts, even if that was mostly my reason for doing the challenge in the first place. Will catch up when I can.

Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback.
If you've already left feedback in the course of a previous challenge, it totally counts. But you're free to leave more feedback.
Afterwards, leave a comment in this post with the equivalent of "I did it!" If you feel so inclined, leave a link to the fanwork you left feedback for so others can check it out.

Okay, so I'm generally quite bad at leaving feedback, because I get nervous that I don't have enough to say to properly convey how much i loved the shit out of something. Plus, I'm hella shy which doesn't help. I usually end up just saying "This is amazing!" or leaving kudos and running away. BUT I'm going to be a brave little toaster and leave as much feedback as possible for the next things I fan things I like.

In your own space, create a fanwork. Make a drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. Arts and crafts. Draft a critical essay about a particular media. Put together a picspam or a fanmix. Write a review of a Broadway show, a movie, a concert, a poetry reading, a museum trip, a you-should-be-listening-to-this-band essay. Compose some limericks, haikus, free-form poetry, 5-word stories. Document a particular bit of real person canon. Take some pictures. Draw a stick-figure comic. Create something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm a little late to the party for Day 4. I'm off work for the entire week which should mean that I have lots of time to write, but so far it's just me sitting around watching Pretty Little Liars and complaining about not writing. This challenge was a nice kick in the behind.

I started this a while ago, so I've just been trying to fix it up. It's still just the beginning of something NSFW that's in the same verse as these.

Bandom - Pete/Patrick.

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So again, this is kind of hard for me to do because I'm not particularly good at reccing my own work. But here goes! All I write is Bandom (though I used to write some very bad X-Files fanfic WITH PEN AND PAPER when I was a teenager. Hopefully that will never see the light of day!).

1. Flying Full Throttle into a Hurricane - Bandom. Pete/Patrick from Fall Out Boy. Very indulgent panty kink PWP

2. A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes - Bandom. Pete/Patrick from Fall Out Boy. Patrick has a dirty dream about Pete that makes him feel weird but that's just the beginning (Not necessarily my best work. I had no beta reader, and at the time I think I just got annoyed at it after losing about half of it and having to rewrite it, and posted it to make it go away. There's a few SPaG errors that I've still to fix, but it's one of my fave stories I've ever written)

3. This is technically two parts of the same story, but Cold to the Touch, Hot on the Inside - Bandom. Pete/ Mikey. the fire alarm goes off in Pete's apartment block and he spots his hot neighbour, Mikey Way while waiting outside for firefighters to take care of the situation. Part two is one of my favourite things I've written.

4. The first cut is the Deepest - Bandom Pete/Mikey. Long after the Summer of Like Pete runs into Mikey and they start up as friends again except that Pete's still in love.

Can't wait to check out everyone's work!

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.

Okay, I'm not good at asking for things, but here goes nothing. I'm pretty much only reading bandom lately, but I've also been reading the odd Star Wars fic.

1. I'm a big fan of crossovers, and I love the idea of either a Star Wars or Star Trek crossover into Bandom (I think there's been one or two crossovers into Star Trek, but I need more, honestly). Likewise with superheroes, either if it's subtle super powers that no one knows about like vague mind control or x-ray vision or something, or actual superheroes saving the world. I love that idea though, and it's not used near enough in bandom.

2. Comments on my stuff. This one is a lot of ask for but I do love comments. I love to hear if a bit of something I wrote actually worked. Even if people read my work it makes me happy though.

3. I also LOVE getting something recommended to me, something I might like based on what I've written maybe ?(Bonus if I haven't read it already!). This would especially work for The Force Awakens fic cos I'm totally new and have only read a handful.

Phew, that was hard!

Fandom Snowflake Challenge banner

Day 01

In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Ok, so I've been in bandom about two years and I've only ever spoken to a handful of people. Despite being older than most (I think. I'm in my 30's, so I sure feel older), I'm hella shy with introducing myself to fellow fandom folk, and I'm stupidly intimidated by people who have been in fandoms since the dawn of time.

So doing a challenge such as this one will hopefully pull me out of my shell a little, maybe get me talking, and stop me from being a fandom hermit.

I've talked myself out of doing other challenges before so this feels like a good place to start :)

PS I've never actually used Dreamwith before so I've no idea what I'm doing...
